  • Balancing equations
    • Subscripts - the small numbers in an equation that we see.
    • Coefficients - The big numbers in an equation that we see.
    • Always balance equations by adding coefficients.
    • Never add subscripts - it changes the formula!
    • 1.  Count number of atoms in each element.
    • 2.  What do you need to balance the equation?
    • 3.  After each addition, recount to see what else you need to add.
    • 4.  Now add more to the other side if you need to, make sure it is balanced.
    • The equation will need to be balanced for the equation to be true.
