YR 9 LAYER TEST 1

PROBABLILITY

P(A) means the probability that a happens

Eg- ½ a chance of getting heads when you toss a coin

P(A') means the probability that A doesn't happen

Eg- ½ a chance of NOT getting heads when you toss a coin.

(P')=1-P(A)

If two events are mutually exclusive they cannot both happen at the same

time.

Eg- you cannot get heads and tails both at the same time.

If events A and B are mutually exclusive then

P(A or B)=P(A)+P(B)

If A and B are independent then...

P(A or B)=P(A)XP(B)
