When to use it
It is used to tell of events that have already happened, e.g. I spoke, it played.
How to form it
Ar verbs
Take off the ar and add the following endings:
I = é
You = aste
He/she/it = ó
We = amos
You = asteis
They = aron
e.g. Hablar = Hablé
Er and ir verbs
I = í
You = iste
He/she/it = ió
We = imos
You = isteis
They = ieron
e.g. Escribir = Escribí
Comer = Comí
Irregulars
Estar = Estuv = Estuve, iste, o, imos, isteis, ieron
Tener = Tuv = Tuve, iste, o, imos, isteis, ieron
Haber = Hub = Hube, iste, o, imos, isteis, ieron
Poder = Pud = Pude, iste, o, imos, isteis, ieron
Saber = Sup = Supe, iste, o, imos, isteis, ieron
Hacer = Hic (Hiz for the 3rd person) = Hice, iste, o, imos, isteis, ieron
