Here's a taster:

Rationalising the Denominator
If a surd is in a fraction:
2/3
To rationalise the denominator, you must times it by 1, but in
the form of the surd:
3/3
to get rid of the surd on the bottom:
(2/3) x (3/3) = (23)/3
If a surd is in a fraction in this form:
1/(1 + 2)
then we must multiply by the denominator with the inverse
sign:
1 - 2
in order to get rid of the surd:
1/(1 + 2) x (1 - 2)/(1 - 2) = -1 + 2…read more

Multiplying Out Brackets
Basic rules:
1. a(b + c + d) = ab + ac + ad
2. (a + b)² = (a + b)(a + b) = a² + b² + 2ab
3. (a + b)(c + d) = ac + ad + bc + bd
4. (x + y + z)(a + b + c + d) = x(a + b + c + d)... = ax +
bx + cx + dx...…read more
