Hitler Fact File
Date of Birth: 20th April 1889
Date of Death: 30th April 1945 at the age of 56
Where he was born: Braunau, Austria
Background: Hitler was born in Austria but moved to Germany at the age of three. Hitler's parents
were Alois and Klara Hitler. He had one sibling called Paula his other four other siblings died. He
married Eva Braun on the 29th 1945. His father died when he was thirteen years old and his mother
died in 1907. He died by committing suicide by shooting himself.
Characteristics and quality: Hitler was full of confidence, determination and bravery as he was angry
when the treaty of Versailles and wanted to stop this from happening but causing a war. He had
good leadership and led his army well to fight against other countries. Most people view him as crazy
and insane because of his view of Jews.
Hitler as a Nazi: The crisis of the Treaty of Versailles in 1923 led many Germans to support extreme
parties like the Nazi
The Nazis did not appeal to:
working men who voted Communist
intellectuals such as students and university professors
They were popular with:
nationalists and racists
lower middle-class people such as plumbers and shopkeepers who were worried about
the chaos Germany was in
rich people worried by the threat from Communism
Not all Nazis believed in the same thing. Not all believe in the Occult, in fact except for Jewish, there
were many Nazis of many faith backgrounds. The Nazi's wanted a country (Germany) to be free of
people that believed differently from them (eg. Jews, Homosexuals etc.)
Facts about Hitler:
Hitler hated Jews because a Jewish doctor let his mother die and he picked up the hatred
while living in the streets of Vienna a city known at the time for its anti-Semitism.
On July 20, 1944, Hitler barely survived an assassination attempt. One of his top military
officers had placed a suitcase bomb under the table during a conference meeting at Hitler's
Wolf's Lair. Because the table leg blocked much of the blast, Hitler survived with only injuries
to his arm and some hearing loss. Not everyone in the room was so lucky.
On April 29, 1945, Hitler married his long-time mistress, Eva Braun.
The following day, April 30, 1945, Hitler and Eva committed suicide together. In 1932, Hitler
was granted German citizenship.
In the July 1932 elections, the Nazi Party obtained 37.3 percent of the vote for the Reichstag
(Germany's parliament), making it the controlling political party in Germany.
On January 30, 1933, Hitler was appointed chancellor. Hitler then used this high-ranking
position to gain absolute power over Germany. This finally happened when Germany's
president, Paul von Hindenburg, died in office on August 2, 1934.
Hitler took the title of Führer and Reichskanzler (Leader and Reich Chancellor).
