Option 1 - all-weather road network

Advantages

  • PEOPLE:
  • Tarmac roads, so it's quicker for farmers to travel to markets
  • Less time away from farms for farmers as journey is shorter
  • Easier to travel
  • Village is less isolated
  • WEALTH:
  • Shorter journeys mean less bruised fruit and more money from the market
  • ENVIRONMENT:
  • Drainage channels reduce road flooding, so roads available to use more regularly

Disadvantages

  • May be expensive

Evaluation

Overall, the advantages of option 1 outweigh the disadvantages by a great amount. Option 1 will benefit people by decreasing their journey time to the market and the village will become less isolated. It's also less difficult to travel. Roads will be available regularly and money from the market will be increased due to less bruised fruit.
