Star Tracker Advantages and Disadvantages

PLEASE NOTE: Just so people are aware, this is for my EPQ relating to Astrophotography. It is therefore likely that it won't be relevant to others. However, if this helps you I'm glad of it. Just, if it doesn't, remember this note and please no haters in the comments.

Star Tracker Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages

  • Is capable of producing fantastic images
  • Has been named the heart and foundation of every astrophotography rig
  • Produces an effect impossible to get otherwise
  • Exposure lengths, instead of being limited to around 30 seconds, can be up to 20 minutes or even longer
  • The limitation of the 500 Rule is eliminated
  • Small, portable and lightweight
  • MUCH more affordable than an equatorial telescope mount

Disadvantages

  • Could become quite expensive
  • Depending on the model and brand, this could have a steep learning curve
  • Has several prerequisites, such as being able to locate Polaris
  • If not correctly polar-aligned, then it is nearly useless.

Evaluation

Other than the price point and potential difficulties in learning to use a star tracker, one of these is by far the better option.
