Advantages

Effortful change is outcome-effective
Effortless change is cost-effective
Moving towards more theory-based interventions falling under 3 main perspectives

Disadvantages

Many interventions have not been effective/had small or temporary effects (Oakley et al 1995)
Many interventions are based on facts, not theories of mediating variables (Fisher and Fisher 1992)

Evaluation

Still more research required but moving in the right direction of theory-based interventions. Should focus on individual and population levels.
