	Similarities Postsynaptic membrane is cell surface membrane of a neurone. Neurotransmitter may be ACh, noradrenaline, glutamate or another transmitter. Depolarisation of the postsynaptic membrane may be stimulatory or inhibitory.	Differences Postsynaptic membrane is cell surface membrane (sarcolemma) of a muscle. Neurotransmitter is ACh for skeletal muscle. Depolarisation of the postsynaptic membrane is stimulatory.
	Overall comparison In both, neurotransmitter is secreted, diffuses across a cleft, binds to receptors in the postsynaptic membrane and is finally broken down.
