	Advantages There is support from other studies for the effects of task difficulty - Lucas et al asked pets to solve easy and hard maths problems, ppts given answers from 3 other students (not real). The pots conformed more often when the problems were harder.	Disadvantages The task and situation were artificial - ppts knew they were in a research study and may simply have gone along with what was expected (demand characteristics). Asch's ppts were American men - other research suggests women may be more conformist due to them buying more concerned about social relationships and being accepted. The USA is an individualistic culture so they're more concerned with themselves rather than their social group.
