  • The economic and political system at the time left the peasants, 70% of the population, in poverty and only a tiny amount of the population rich.
  • Marxists believed in a system where everyone is equal, no one is poor or rich
  • This ideology appealed to the Russian people, and was encouraged by the Marxists leaders who were characteristic
  • There were four types of Marxists, The Liberals who were academics who didn't believe in violence, The Soviet Revolutionaries who did believe in violence and were peasants, Mensheviks who were a lot of workers and started the uprising and Bolsheviks who had a central leadership but were workers
  • At the October Revolution the Bolsheviks where in control of the Soviets, popular in elections and had a demoralised opposition after the Kornilov Affaire

The popularity of the Marxism gave the workers the ability to revolt because they had another system they could replace the Royals withTheir popularity and modern ideology encouraged the workers to leave their government and believe in the Bolsheviks
