Personality

Role

  • Banquo is "noble" and proves his "allegiance" to King Duncan
  • Although he will be "Lesser than Macbeth", he will be "greater" and "much happier".
  • Banquo is a loyal soldier who's "allegiance" is "clear". He is equal to Macbeth as he is "noble Banquo" and he "hast no less deserved". He warns Macbeth that "instruments of darkness tell us truths to win us with honest trifles resulting in deepest consequence" but Macbeth ignores the advice.

Development (Growth & change)

Other information

  • Banquo remains loyal to his King and has already said that "It will make honour for you", "So I lose none", stating that he will not do  anything sketchy for Macbeth if it means losing his allegiance to the King.
  • He is murdered by Macbeth's hired murderers but his son Fleance "is 'scaped".
