      • set up at then end of WW2 to prevent war
      • they protect human rights and aid economic development and social progress
      • aim to establish world peace
    • International Committee of the Red Cross
      • 97 million volunteers worldwide
      • organise medical care for wounded soldiers, supervises treatment of prisoners of war, searches for missing ppl, protects civilians
