  • Summary of problems with defining globalisation.
    • May assume that globalisation is a positive process...
      • It results in marginalisation and exclusion. E.g. those without access to the internet as they are in poverty  (cannot apply for jobs online) creating restrictions.
    • May assume that globalisation occurs everywhere at the same pace.
      • Globalisation occurs at different rates in different places. E.g. in LEDCs, digital communication isn't used as much.
    • May assume its only an economic process.
      • But, it affects all areas.
    • May assume that it leads to cultural homogenisation.
      • Brings people with unique cultural characteristics together to preserve their culture.
