  • Sperry's Study of Split Brain Patients(1968)
    • AIM- To investigate the effects of hemispheric disconnection on perception and memory.
    • RESULTS- in split brain patients each hemisphere can perceive and remember information presented only to that hemisphere. Verbal responses were possible when the information was presented to the left hemisphere (e.g. though the right visual field or the right hand.)
    • CONCLUDE- hemisphere decconection causes the two hemisphere to operate independently, each having its own consciousness, including perception and memory.
      • This produces a doubling of consciousness awareness as each hemisphere is unaware of the other. The right hemisphere is less linguistic than the other however the right uses logic.
