      • Showed PP's lines one which matched another. Participants were joined by confederates who were told to give an incorrect answer each time to see whether they complied.

      • 36.8% of responses made by PP's were incorrect. Only one quarter didn't conform on any trial.
    • Conclusions?
      • Asch concluded that people conformed to a majority influence for approval showing NSI and some ISI where they doubted their judgement and so assumed the others were correct.
