    • 27th February 1933.
    • Young Dutch Communist, Marinus Van Der was arrested and charged for fire.
    • Nazis claimed that this was a plot to start a revolution in Germany.
    • Used to justify he immediately suspension of civil liberties.
    • Suspicions that Marinus was set up, so that Hitler could introduce repressive measures but no evidence.
