      • Mind: the part of us that thinks, associated with our brain.
      • Immortality: living forever.
      • Revelation: truth about the world that God reveals to people (through holy books or through religious experiences)

      • Near death experience: some people, when close to death, claim to experience the afterlife e.g. light at the end of the tunnel.
    • Materialism
      • A materialist believes: a human is just a physical body, our mind helps us to think, feel and be truly human (our mind is just our brain), nothing in us survives after death.
        • Memory: live on through memories of others
        • Legacy: living on through achievements e.g. inventions or books.
        • DNA: living on though children.
      • Problems
        • What about when everyone who remembers you or all your descendants are dead?
        • You are still dead. your children are not you and you aren't there to appreciate people's good memories.
    • Dualism
      • A dualist believes: a human has two parts- a soul and a body, our soul helps us to think and be truly human, there is life after death as the soul survives.
