- Mind: the part of us that thinks, associated with our brain.

- Revelation: truth about the world that God reveals to people (through holy books or through religious experiences)

- A materialist believes: a human is just a physical body, our mind helps us to think, feel and be truly human (our mind is just our brain), nothing in us survives after death.

- Legacy: living on through achievements e.g. inventions or books.
- DNA: living on though children.

- What about when everyone who remembers you or all your descendants are dead?
- You are still dead. your children are not you and you aren't there to appreciate people's good memories.

- A dualist believes: a human has two parts- a soul and a body, our soul helps us to think and be truly human, there is life after death as the soul survives.
