    • France was crowned the most popular country in the world with a record breaking number of 84.7 million tourists in 2014.
      • Between 2010 and 2014 France earned US$63,530,000,000 solely due to tourism.
    • The US is the second most popular tourist destination receiving 69.8 million visitors in 2013 and earing $200,092,000,000 from 2010 to 2014.
    • Surprisingly both Russia and Thailand have had a surge in tourism with Russia receiving a 10.2% rise in 2012 and and Thailand seeing a 18.8% rise in 2012.
    • In 2012, Chinese tourists spent the most abroad reaching a total of $102bn, followed by Germany who spent $83.8bn
    • For 83% of countries, tourism is one of the top 5 sources of  foreign exchange
    • Tourism is beneficial to countries in all stages of development.
