- How we see, The Optic Nerve and Brain
- Vision and Perception
- Vision is the biological process of seeing
- Perception is the psychological process of making sense of the image
- The Blind Spot
- There are no light sensitive cells
- Found in both eyes
- This is the are in the Retina where there is no space for the Rods or Cones
- The Optic Nerve carries the nerve impulses from the rods and cones to the brain
- The Optic Chiasma
- Right eye goes to the right side of the brain
- Information from each eye goes to each side of the brain
- Left eye goes to left side of the brain
- The light reflected from an object enters the eye on the Retina
- The Retina is at the back of the eye
- The nerve cells called rods and cones help us to perceive objects
- The rods are light sensitive cells that respond even in dim light
- The cones are light sensitive cells that detect colour
- Visual Cortex
- Allows us to understand shapes and distances
- Fills in the gap left by the blind spot in both eyes
- Vision and Perception
