Explain what rods are and how they work?
Rods are cells found on the outside of the retina, they are very sensitive to light and see things in black and white

Explain what cones are and how they work?
Cones are cells founds in the middle of the retina, they are not as sensitive to light but they are responsible for seeing in colour

How do rods and cones send information to the visual cortex?
The rods and cones are nerve cells so when they detect light they send nerve impulses along to optic nerve to the visual cortex
