      • Heath = A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
      • PHYSICAL
        • The idea of the body systems working well.
          • Free from injury or illness.
            • therefore have the ability to carry out every day tasks.
        • Being active can benefit your physical health and well-being.
          • Can have a positive impact on the inner-workings of your body.
        • What can it help improve and/or prevent?
          • Improve your heart function.
          • help to prevent the onset of obesity.
          • reduce the risk of some illnesses - diabetes.
          • enable you to carry out everyday tasks without getting tired.
          • improve the efficiency of the body systems - cardio-vascular system.
      • MENTAL
        • Well-being = A mix of physical, social and mental factors that gives people a sense of being comfortable, healthy, and/or happy.
        • Taking part in activity and/or exercise  positively affects mental health and well-being as it can:
          • Release feel good hormones into the body.
          • Reduce stress/tension levels.
          • Enable a person to control their emotions and work productively.
        • A person with good mental health can cope with the stress of every day life and can work productively.
      • SOCIAL
        • Basic human needs are met
          • The person has friendship and support
          • The person has a social status/ value in society
        • Person suffers little stress in social situations.
        • Taking part in activity and/or exercise positively affects social health as it can:
          • Provide opportunities to socialise and make friends
          • Encourage co-operation skills
          • Encourage team-working skills.
          • Ensure that essential human needs are met (food, shelter, clothing,etc)
    • FITNESS
      • Fitness = The ability to meet/cope with the demands of the environment.
      • Demands may include:
        • running to catch the bus
        • Being productive at work
        • walking the dig
      • Improving fitness will:
        • make it easier for you to complete physical work
        • reduce the chances of suffering injuries
        • make you feel more content and happy
        • improve your ability to cope with the demands of your environment
