  • God as creator
    • Key things which are meant:
      • God causes the universe to exist
      • God is responsible for everything which exists within the universe
      • God is responsible for the universe coming into existence and existing at every moment
    • Genesis 1
      • Account which speaks of the earth being "without form and void" and the "spirit of God" moving over the face of the earth
      • "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" - Genesis 1:1
      • It is God who brings everything into being
    • Genesis 2
      • Second part of creation is the creation of human beings. Involves Adam and Eve
      • God is referred to as walking in the garden, in a more super-human way
    • Creatio ex nihilo
      • Creation out of nothing
      • God creating the entire universe, including the unseen
      • God has authority over the world. Implies that there is a time where the universe did not exist. Creation is co-eternal with God.
    • God as craftsman
      • God the creator is compared with a craftsman in Job 38
        • "where were you when I laid earths foundation?" - Job 38:4
      • He decided its dimensions and supported the pilars on which the earth stands = responsible for everything
      • He is also mentioned as being like a builder
        • " the work of Gods fingers" - Psalm 8:3
    • God is in control
      • Seen as being in control in the Bible when he banishes Adam and Eve from the garden of eden
      • "It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to live in; who brings princes to naught, and makes the rulers of earth as nothing" - Isaiah 40:22-23
    • Gods involvement
      • Unlike the disinterested prime mover of Aristotle, the Judaeo-Christian view of God is one who is involved and interested in creation [Gods love by sending his son]
    • Gods omnipotence
      • The world is imbued (filled) with Gods power and this is accepted and seen by the biblical reader
        • "He made the earth by his power" - Jeremiah 51:15
        • All things were made by him and without him was not anything made" - John 1:3
    • Gods omniscience
      • In the Bible, omniscience is about emphasising the limitless nature of Gods knowledge throughout creation
        • "...and he sees everything under the heavens" - Job 28:24
    • Gods omnipresence
      • Strong links with the other two attributes as he is seen responsible for everything and is aware of what happens. Presence noted in Genesis 1:3 and Job 38
