  • The tsarist regieme survived in 1905 mainly due to the concessions it made to its opponents
    • LOA- was the main reason
    • P1- yes - August manifesto was introduced as a way to end the strikes - saw through this and was rejected as it did not go far enough

        • fact it was rejected shows that the peasants ect wanted reform
      • shows that concessions were going to be necessary

      • before bloody sunday , many didnt want the removal of the tsar just wanted reform
      • shows that the resaon that the tsardom may have survived was the fact that many moderates wanted to keep it
      • However without reform the strikes would have continued and the tsardom would have collapsed

      • guaranteed basic freedoms and gave the duma real power
      • this stopped the striking showsing that it was concessions that the-tsar wass forced to make that ended the revolutions and allowed him to survived
      • 400,000 protesting
    • Conclusion- concessions were the only way the regime could survive other than imposing militray rule
