    • Age range
      • Becomes noticeable within the first 2- 3 years of a child's life
      • Life expectancy can be anywhere from 30 to 70 years old depending on the severity and other medical  conditions
      • Babies can be diagnosed at birth is it is severe
      • The earlier the medical professionals diagnose and start treatments and therapies the better chances the person has
    • Treatments
      • There is no cure for cerebral palsy
      • Physiotherapy
        • Exercises to help maintain and hopefully improve movement
        • Encourage movement
        • Increase strength and stop muscles becoming weak
        • Stop muscles shortening and losing their range of movement
      • Speech and language therapies
        • Teach other methods of communicating
        • Swallowing exercises
        • Practise speech
      • Occupational therapies
        • Identifying problems that the person may have whilst carrying out everyday tasks
        • Advice an guidance on complex activities - toileting or dressing
      • Medicines for:
        • Muscle stiffness
        • Botulinum toxin injections - injections that can relax certain muscles or groups of muscles for a few months at a time
        • Sleep - Melatonin
        • Constipation
        • Pain relief
        • Reducing drooling
    • Health and social care staff involved in care
      • Paediatrician
      • Neurologist
      • Specialist neurologist nurses
      • Physiotherapists
      • Speech and language therapists
      • GPs
