- BIOLOGY PART 1
- animal cell
- nucleus: what happens in the cell, contains chromosomes
- ribosomes: ball shape structures, where proteinsynthesis happens
- mitochondria: rod shape structures that creates respiration
- cytoplasm: jelly like substance where chemical reactions happen
- cell membrane: the semi permeable membrane that forms the outer layer
- plant cell
- permanent vaculoe: supports the cell filled with cell sap
- cell wall: the outer layer of the cell that provides support made of cellulose
- chloroplast: contains green pigment chlorophyll for photosynthesis
- bacteria
- unicellular organ made up of one cell
- some bacteria cells have a capsule surrounding them to provide protection
- contain chromosomes, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cell wall
- fungi cell
- have a nucleus, chloroplast, vacuole, nucleus
- the cell wall is made of chitin
- differenation
- when cells become specialised by developing special features to enable them to perform specific functions
- diffusion and how to increase it
- the movement of gases or dissolved molecules from a HG to a LG over the CG
- increase the surface area
- distance
- concentration gradient
- tissues
- a group of cells with the same specific features to perform the same specific function
- cells-> tissues-> organs-> systems-> organisms
- stomach
- outer and inner epithelial tissues: provide protection
- glandular tissue: secretes acid and enzymes into the stomach
- muscular tissues: contracts and churns up food with acid and enzymes
- plant organ
- leaf: absorb sunlight for photosynthesis
- stem: holds up the plant and delivers food
- roots: anchors the plant and absorb water and nutrients
- flower: the reproductive organism
- xylem
- plant tissues which transports water and minerals from the root to the leaf
- a row of dead cells, the cell wall ends are missing acting like a straw
- photosynthesis
- water+c02--light+chlorophyll--> glucose+oxygen
- the glucose created is transported by the phloem
- glucose can be converted to starch and is used as a food storage
- the glucose molecules can join together to form cellulose
- c02,water and sunlight affects the rate of photosynthesis
- phloem
- a plant tissues made up alive cells that transport glucose to every part in the cell
- animal cell
