  • Beliefs of the causes of the black death.
    • God was angry and sent the plague as a punishment for sins.

      • Kill all witches. They are to blame for the plague as they are in league with the devil.
      • Wipe out the Jews. It is they who plan to wipe out all Christians with poisons which are spreading the disease.
    • The plague is caused by and imbalance of the 4 humours.
      • Bleeding the patient and applying leeches will draw off excess blood and restore the natural balance of the body.
      • Purging with laxatives will rid the body of the bile which is causing disease.
