- ATP-PC System
- We use phosphocreatine as the FUEL to replace ATP by combining ADP + P
- Used for an activity that lasts between 3+10 seconds
- Used for HIGH intensity work e.g. 100m
- PC is stored in the sarcoplasm of the muscle cell.
- PC --> Pi + C + Energy (exothermic)
- Energy + ADP + Pi --> ATP (endothermic)
- These 2 reactions are called a COUPLED REACTION
- PC --> Pi + C + Energy (exothermic)
- Energy + ADP + Pi --> ATP (endothermic)
- These 2 reactions are called a COUPLED REACTION
- These are facillitated by the enzyme CREATINE KINASE
- 1 mole of PC = 1 mole of ATP

- ADVS: Fast as PC stored in the muscles, no O2 required, PC can be resynthesized quickly, no harmful by products
- DISADVS: only a limited store of PC in the muscles, only 1 ATP is made, only lasts 10 seconds
- EFFECTS OF TRAINING: Increased PC stores + ATP stores. ATPPC- Lactic acid threshold is delayed
- train using ANAEROBIC TRAINING
- could possibly last 1-2 seconds LONGER.
- We use phosphocreatine as the FUEL to replace ATP by combining ADP + P
