      • A media influence on antisocial behaviour is observational learning and imitation (SLT) such as when children observe media models and imitate their behaviours
      • Cognitive priming is another influence, it refers to the activation of existing aggressive thoughts, feelings and it explains why children observe one kind of behaviour on TV and commit another.
        • Immediately after a violent programme, the view is primed to respond aggressively  because  a network of memories involving aggression is retrieved. Thus, frequent exposure may lead to kids storing scripts of aggression.
      • De-sensitisation may be another influence of antisocial behaviour because the more violent TV a child watches, the more acceptable aggressive behaviours come for the child. Thus, frequent views of violence may lead them to feel less anxious about violence.

      • Bandura's research supports the view that children learn specific acts of aggression and learn increased aggression through imitating models.
      • Bandura found that moderate levels of aggression when the models were a cartoon character.
        • However, such imitation is actually rare outside bandura-style studies using specially prepared videos.
      • The importance of cognitive priming was demonstrated in a study by Josephen.
        • Hockey players were deliberately frustrated and then shown violent or non-violent film, the players behaved more aggressively if they had seen the violent film during the game. The referee was holding a walkie-talkie just like in the game, presumably as a cue for aggression.
      • Cumberbatch argues that people might get used to violence, but doesn't mean they will do it. He claimed, screen violence is more likely to 'frighten' a child than make them 'frightening'
        • This suggests that TV shows of violence may not have a big effect on violent behaviour.
      • A meta-analysis by Pik + Comstock suggests that children exposed to violence in films behave more aggressively afterwards.
        • They examined 217 studies of the relationship between media violence and aggressive behaviour and found a highly significant relationship between the two. This provides evidence for the claim that violent behaviour in films have an effect aggressive behaviours
          • However, studies like this were only correlational so does not represent real life
    • Antisocial behaviour is actions that go against the basic principles of society.
