    • Changes to the feudal system

        • They were betrayed ad defeated this was the last real challenge to Williams rule
      • On his way to hasting William built wooden castles to consolidate his power and act as a base such as in Pevensy
    • Earls revolts
      • In 1075 Williams earls revolted after he refused to let Emma FitzOsbern marry earl Ralph
      • After defeating Earl Roger (Emma's Brother) he fled to Denmark to gain support of the danes, leaving his wife who was defeated
      • Saxon, Earl Waltheof was invited to join in the rebellion but backed out
      • Earl Roger returned and started his rebellion in west England but was defeated as the locals were loyal to william
