- Act 1, scene 1
- Characters: Pantaloon, Smeraldina, Dr Lombardi, Brighellla, Clarice, Silvio
- Silvio would: follow Pantaloon around to try and **** up to him, stay very close to Clarice so Pantaloon can come between them at the "peck each toher into purgatory" line.
- Dr Lombardi would have latin phrases written on his hand or on a scrol so he can be intellectual but the fact that he has to read it off a piece of paper creates comedy- latin lazzi
- Clarice and Silvio can swoon when the other tells them they love them- slapstick comedy because of their over exaggerated actions
- Pantaloon would be wearing a wig so when Smeraldina says "Keep your hair on" he can straighten it or actually take it off and readjust it
- Quotes
- Brighella- "It is a total honour and privilege sir" Brighella will **** up to them so they come to eat at his restaurant.
- Pantaloon- "Peck each other into purgatory" Pantaloon's movement is like a bird so he would mimic a bird when he says the line
- Smeraldina- "Keep your hair on"- Pantaloon can wear a wig
- Plot: Pantaloon's daughter Clarice is becoming engaged to Dr Lombardi's son Silvio and Brighella has come as a witness.
- Why is it important: The audience learn that Clarice was previously engaged to Federigo who was killed by his sister's lover. They also learn that Federigo's sister liked to dress up in men's clothing.
