    • Types of Play
      • Discovery Play
        • Children will use shape, colour and size
          • Using building blocks to build a tower
      • Manipulative Play
        • They use their hands and eyes to co-ordinate movement

        • Children will run, jump and climb. They will use lots of energy

        • They pretend or act out something in this type of play.

        • This is when children play and share with others
        • Playing a board game, taking turns on a swing
    • Benefits of Play
      • All children need to play. It has many benefits to children.
        • Helps them to mix with others
      • Teaches them how to take turns
      • Keeps them happy
      • Prevents boredom
      • Gives them quality time with parents
      • Teaches them new skills
    • Points to look out for when buying a tricycle for a three year old
      • Correct size for the age of the child
      • CE or lion mark to show it is safe
      • No small or loose parts
    • Reasons why someone may be fostered
      • Parent is dead
      • Parent is in prison
      • Parent has abused or neglected their child
      • Parent is unable to cope
      • Parent is ill/ in hospital
    • Why is it important to limit the amount of sugar given to children
      • Sugar causes tooth decay and gum disease
      • Sugar causes weight gain which could leave to obesity
    • Drinks that are suitable to give to children
      • Water
      • Milk
        • Smoothies
      • Squash is NOT accepted
    • Foods that are high in fibre
      • Fruits and Vegetables- especially if the skin is eaten
        • Wholemeal bread, pasta and cereal
    • Signs that show that a child is ill
      • Sickness/ vommiting
      • Diarrhoea
      • Raised temperature
        • Difficulty breathing
      • Rash
        • Swollen glands
      • Pale
      • Crying more that normal
      • Clingy
      • Loss of appetite
    • Signs that a child is VERY unwell and needs immediate medical attention
      • Temperature about 39 degrees celcius
        • Having a fit or convulsion
        • Stopped breathing/ can't wake them up
      • Coughing up blood
      • Stiff neck/ sensitive to light
