What is absolute poverty?
An individual of family is unable to access miniumim needs like food, water, shelter.

What is relative poverty?
Where poverty is defined in relation to the society. Individuals are able to have their basic needs met but can't afford holidays etc.

What is fuel poverty?
Households that do not have enough income to afford fuel required for heat, light and to cook at home.

What is vulnerability?
Being at risk of a deterioration in one’s well-being.

What is entitlement?
The right to have command over resources necessary to meet one’s needs eg. land or right to property and inheritance; the right to a vote or an education.

What are endowments?
These are the assets or capital possessed by individuals or families. They are important because they provide a safety-net in times of increased vulnerability

What is empowerment?
Having the ability to control one’s life and assert one’s rights through confidence, access to information and entitlements.
