What are the 5 steps to determine the Lewis structure of a molecule
1. Count valence electrons for each atom and the overall e- count
(Decide a central atom, usually the most e-negative)
2. Place 6 e- on each non-H atom
3. Count how many e- used up in sigma bonds
4. Place remaining e- on central atom
5. Minimise formal ch

What is the hybridisatin of atomic orbitals?
Hybridised orbitals are present in molecules. Atmomic orbitals "mix" to form a new orbital, a hybridised one. Ex: an s-orbital and 2 p-orbitals creates a new sp2 orbital (sp-squared)
