Flu-like symptoms for a few weeks. After, the person doesnt then experience any symptoms for several years. During this time HIV can be controlled with antiretroviral drugs

By using antiretroviral drugs, these stop the virus replicating in the body

The immune system

It cant cope with other infections or cancers, at this stage HIV is known as late stage HIV infection or AIDS

A virus that affects many species of plants eg tomatoes

What does Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) cause?
A mosaic pattern on the leaves of the plants - parts of the leaves become discoloured

What does the discolouration mean?
The plant cant carry out photosynthesis, so the virus affects growth

A fungus that causes purple or black to develop on the leaves of rose plants.

The leaves turn yellow and drop off

Less photosynthesis can happen, so the plant doesnt grow very well

Through the enviroment in water or by the wind

They are vectors, they pick up the malarial protist when they feed on and infected animal
