What is interspecific and intraspecific variation?
Interspecific is variation between species. Intraspecific is difference between alleles (between species)
1 of 8
What is genetic variation and eviromental variation?
Different alleles within a species, alles make up genotype, different genotype make up phenotype (characteristics) Enviromental = Phenotype affected by enviroment [Variation is often mix of both]
2 of 8
What are twin studies useful for?
Determining what's due to enviroment or genes. Similar = genetics Non-similar = Enviromental
3 of 8
Why are population samples and random samples used?
Population sample because nearly impossible/time consuming all species. Random sample= results not due to chance/ensure accuracy/w/o bias
4 of 8
What would you look at when describing data?
Range of differences, largest? , general trends?
5 of 8
What could be the reason of differences?
Are they same enviroment? intra & inter due to genes?
6 of 8
What is standard deviation?
Spread of data around a mean/ values with greater sd show larger variation
7 of 8
What are bell shaped graphs?
Avreage values collected, used to tell variation plotted. Normal distribution bell shaped graph (Symmetrical around mean)
