A temperature of 37.9 or above may indicate pyelonephritis or sepsis.

The most common symptom is fever but this is non specific. The absence of a fever does not exclude a UTI.

OTHER SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF UTI

URGENCY- urgency to urinate is a common symptom that can indicate a UTI. It can also be a sign of an overactive bladder.
VISIBLE HAEMATURIA

Visible haematuria can indicate a UTI. However when it is a finding on it own further investigation needs to occur.

SUPRAPUBIC PAIN OR TENDERNESS

This increases the probability of a UTI.
FLANK PAIN

Can be a sign of a kidney problem. Other causes could be possible flank pain, fever, chills, blood in urine or frequent or urgent urination could mean a kidney problem is likely. It could also be kidney stones.

NEW INCONTINENCE

This can indicate a UTI when paired with other symptoms
NEW OR WORSENING DELERIUM

can also be a symptom of a UTI

RISK FACTORS

Sexual activity

Spermicide use

Post menopause
Positive family history of UTIs

History of recurrent UTIs

Presence of a foreign body (eg indwelling Catheter)
