Types of Reliability

?
Reliability
Consistency of the measurement technique used.
1 of 7
Inter-rater
If using two or more people, there should be a strong positive correlation between the two sets of results.
2 of 7
Quantitative Data
Increases reliability because it is easy to compare results and see if they are consistent. Results can also be analysed statistically.
3 of 7
Operationalisation
If variables are not clearly defined the experimenters might measure the variables differently.
4 of 7
Standardisation
All instructions and procedures must be standardised to make sure that all participants are measured in the same way.
5 of 7
Replicability
The method must be replicable so that we can conduct the research again and see if we get the same results.
6 of 7
Experimenter Effects
If one experimenter is biased and conducts the research in a biased fashion, another experimenter may not be and might conduct the research differently. Should use a double blind.
