What is internalisation?
A permanent change in public and private attitudes where we take on the majority view because we accept it as correct.

What is identification?
A public change in attitude to be accepted by the majority as we want to be associated with it, in private we don't necessarily agree.

What is compliance?
'Going along with others' in public but in private disagreeing, a superficial temporary change that stops when group pressure stops.

Normative Social Influence

Explain NSI
An explanation of conformity whereby an individuals conforms with the expectations of the majority to gain approval/avoid social disapproval.
May lead to compliance

What is ISI?
Informational Social Influence

Explain ISI
An explanation of conformity that says we agree with the opinion of the majority because we believe it is correct. It is the result of the desire to be correct.
May lead to internalisation
