What is a Network?
As soon as one device is connected to another a network is formed.

Why do we use networks?
Sharing resources. Documents, software, emails and messaging are common things shared on a network.

Example of a wired network?
Cat5e Cable connects PC's from a network adapter to LAN.

What does Bluetooth do?
One Bluetooth enabled device 'pairs' with another using Radio Waves

What is a LAN network?
A network in a small geographical area. Most LANs use Ethernet technology to work.

What is a WAN network?
A network spread over a large geographical area.

What is a PAN network?
A network of devices in close proximity to an individual. These networks will use Bluetooth to connect the devices within them.

What is a Peer to Peer network?
All devices on the network have equal status. No device has overall control, i.e. no server. Devices connected together in a PAN

What is a Client Server Network?
Client devices request access to the network which is controlled by the server. The server authorises, or declines all network activity e.g. logon on, opening files, printing, Internet access. Must be maintained by an administrator.
