What is The National Grid?
This is where electricity is distributed from power stations which allows distant power stations to be used. It also allows a mix of different energy resources to be used efficiently to supply the country’s electricity, whatever the local demand.
1 of 5
Why do we need a National Grid?
It provides; a reliable, secure energy supply, high voltage power lines that connect all the power stations to the consumers and it can change the electrical supply to match the changing demand
2 of 5
What is Electrical Power?
It is a measure of the rate that electrical energy can be transformed into other more useful forms of energy
3 of 5
What is the equation for calculating electrical power?
electrical power = voltage x current
4 of 5
What is the mains voltage in most UK houses?
230V
