Guiding and information services pt1
Information promoting a destination can be provided to tourists, and also information provided to the tourist whilst they are in a destination or visiting an attraction.

TICs
Tourist information centres are generally run by local or city councils to get the most out of their visit. TICs can offer advice, book accommodation and help people find their way around.
They can generate income by selling books, maps and souvenirs.

Guides
Two types:
Blue Badge - professionally qualified guides that take people around a specific destination. They have extensive training and knowledge and can accompany groups on coaches and day trips.

There are also guides linked to particular attractions

NGOs
Non-governmental organisations are non-commercial organisations which run independently from the government. They address issues and mostly work in developing countries. Well-known NGOs include the World Wildlife Fund, Save the Children and Greenpeace. T

Charitable Organisations
Non-profit organisations operating to achieve a specific aim.
The YHA provides cheap accommodation to young travellers.
The national trust aims to preserve many historical buildings and landscapes.

Government organisations
Cadw does the same as the National Trust but is funded by the Welsh Government. National Park authorities are funded by the central government.
