The Model can be anyone but it is the "model" that someone is imitating.

What is Imitation?
When a person copies some of the model's behaviours.

What is Identification?
A person is more likely to imitate a model who is more similar to them. This can be characteristics, sex, etc.

What is Vicarious Reinforcement?
When people learn the consequences of a behaviour, they adjust their own behaviour accordingly. E.g. A person is less likely to imitate their model if their model is being punished for their behaviour.

What are the Strengths?
This theory has been used to understand many areas of behaviour, especially criminal behaviour.
Research Support; this theory has very strong research support with Bandura et al and many others.

What are the Limitations?
Over-reliance on Lab Studies; All of these observations are children in a lab setting which is unnatural and could influence results.
Underestimates biological factors like boys being more aggressive than girls.
