Test for non-reducing sugars
Benedict's test - add dilute hydrochloric acid and heat sample in water bath, neutralise with hydrogencarbonate, and repeat test for reducing sugars, if solution remains blue it contains no forms of sugar

Test strips - coated in a reagent and dipped in the solution and change colour dependent on concentration of glucose

Test for starch
Iodine - add potassium iodide solution to the sample, if starch is present colour changes to blue-black

Test for poteins
Biuret test - make solution alkaline by adding sodium hydroxide, add copper sulfate solution, colour change to purple is protein is present

Emulsion - add ethanol and shake, pour solution into water, if lipid is present water will turn milky
