Different between the two polysaccharides of alpha glucose amylose and amylopectin?
Amylose is a long unbranched chain whereas amylopectin is a long branched chain.

What is the structure of cellulose?
Long, unbranched chains of beta-glucose, the bonds between the sugars are straight, the chains are linked together by hydrogen bonds to from microfibrils which provide structural support for cells.
5 of 10
What type of reaction joins two monosaccharides (sugars) together?
Condensation

What is the difference between an alpha and beta glucose molecule?
For alpha glucose the two elements on the right is H at the top and OH at the bottom, whereas for beta glucose, OH is the top element and H is the bottom element.
7 of 10
Why is starch suited for energy storage?
It is insoluble and therefore does not draw water in by osmosis, it does not diffuse out of cells easily as it is insoluble, it is compact and therefore a lot can be stored in a small space.

Three structures which can be found in plant cells but not in animal cells?
Cell wall, permanent vacuole and chloroplasts.
