Conflict theory.
Start from the observation that in most societies there are social inequalities between different groups, and that in theses circumstances it is difficult to acheive a consensus in society.

Feminism.
Belief in or advocacy of women's social, political, and economic rights, especially with regard to equality of the sexes.

Liberal Feminism.
Campaigned for equality for both sexes. Led to the Sex Discrimination Act of 1970. Believed in change within the existing system. Particularly intrested in the experienced of women in the workplace and education.

Radical Feminism.
Held the most extreme views. Argued change could only take place outside of existing system: Advocated Separatism. Particularly intrested in violence against women.

Black Feminism.
Critical of white middle class feminists who took no account of ethnicity. Argued the family was a safe haven from society rather than a place of explotation.

Marxist Feminism/Soicalist Feminism.
Argue social class and gender combine to disadvantage women in the workplace and the home.
