Step 1
Get two electrodes. Clean the surface of the electrode using a small piece of emery paper.

Step 2
Transfer grease back onto strips. Dont touch the surfave of the metals.

Step 3
Place both electrodes into a beaker filled with electrolyte.

Step 4
Connect electrodes to a power supply using crocodile clips and wires.

Why do you set it up with non-inert electrodes?
Use the same method but use copper electrodes rather than carbon or platinum.

Half equation at the anode.
Cu -> Cu2+ + 2e-

Half equation at the cathode.
Cu2+ + 2e- -> Cu
