6Rs of Sustainable design PFDUCT
Reduce, Reuse, Rethink, Refuse, Repair, Recycle
1 of 16
Renewable Energy Sources
Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Tidal, Biomass, Hydro-electrical.,

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, as amended is a United Kingdom Statutory Instrument that states general requirements on employers to protect employees and other persons from the hazards of substances.

Carbon Footprint
Carbon Footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere as a result of the activities of a particular individual, organisation, or community.
4 of 16
Carbon Offsetting
Carbon Offsetting is the counteracting of carbon dioxide emissions with an equivalent reduction of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Types of Recycling
Waste Paper Recycling & Cardboard Recycling, Plastic Recycling, Metal Recycling, Wood Recycling

What is · Planned Obsolescence?
a rule of producing consumer goods that rapidly become unusable and so require replacing, achieved by frequent changes in design. For example, the use of non-durable materials.
7 of 16
Properties of Mild Steel
Melting Point = 1600°C. Tough, ductile, malleable, good tensile strength, poor resistance to corrosion.
8 of 16
Properties of Hardwood
Hardwood like Ash is Light, creamy-brown colour, open-grained, tough, flexible

Mass Production
Mass production is the manufacture of large quantities of standardized products, frequently utilizing assembly line technology. Mass production refers to the process of creating large numbers of similar products efficiently.
10 of 16
Types of drill bit for Woodworking
Auger Drill Bits, Metal Drill Bits, Countersink Bits.
11 of 16
Advantages of Manufactured Boards
Advantages are good dimensional stability - do not warp as much as natural timbers. Sheets of plywood and MDF are flexible and easy to bend over formers for laminating.
12 of 16
Properties of Manufactured Boards
MDF=smooth and stong. Plywood=very strong as it cannot split along the grain like solid timber.
13 of 16
Advantages of CAD CAM CNC
It helps the producer see the product before making it and help with its measurements. It also allows the producer to easily make any changes as it will be visually seen.

· Types & Properties of thermoplastics
Polyamide:Creamy colour, tough, fairly hard, resists wear, self-lubricating. Polymethyl:Stiff, hard but scratches easily, durable, brittle in small sections.
15 of 16
· How to shape and process thermoplastics
One way of doing this is by using a line bender. Just turn on the machine and place ur plastic on top of the line. Wait for atleast 40sec-60 and then lift it. After this it will lose its plastic properties and will become bendable.
