What are foam cells?
Cytokines released in arterial wall damage initiate inflammatory response. Monocytes are attracted to the site and enter the blood vessel wall and are now called macrophages. Oxidised LDL proteins enter them by endocytosis. FCs are new macrophages

What is the effect of endurance training on HDL?
There is no intensity effect.

What is the effect of endurance training on diastolic blood pressure at rest?
There is a reduction of blood pressure at high intensity exercise. There is no reduction at lower intensity exercise.

What is Oxidative Stress?
An imbalance between oxidants and anti - oxidants in favour of the oxidants, leading to a disruption in redox signalling and control and/or molecular damage.

What are the effects of increased nitric oxide release?
Enhanced Vasodilation, Inhibition of smooth muscle proliferation, Inhibition of platelet adhesion and aggregation.
