HideShow resource information
Photons (P2)
Radiation travels in packets of energy called photons
1 of 12
Intensity (P2)
Intensity is how much energy is arriving at a surface each second
2 of 12
Digital signal (P2)
A type of signal that only has two values 1 or 0. Used in newer technology like CDs.
3 of 12
Fossil Fuel (P3)
A non renewable fuel found naturally, for example natural gas.
4 of 12
Sankey Diagram (P3)
A diagram that shows what the energy input is being used for in a certain appliance
5 of 12
Theory of Continental Drift (P1)
A theory that all the continents were once all part of one land mass called a 'super continent'. They then broke apart to make the continents we know today and began to drift apart. They continue to move today.
6 of 12
Parallax (P1)
The apparent movement of stars
7 of 12
Ionising Radiation (P2)
Ionising radiation has such high energy that exposure to it can lead to cell damge and mutations. Gamma rays, Ultra violet and X-rays are all ionising radiation.
8 of 12
A Moon (P1)
An object that orbits a planet
9 of 12
Nuclear Fission (P3)
A process used to gget energy in nuclear power stations. They split the nucleus of a material (usually uranium or plutonium) in to two samller nuclei, which are radioactive. Some energy is released.
10 of 12
Redshift (P1)
The further away a star or galaxy is, the redder its light appears to be
11 of 12
Power (P3)
The rate at which energy is transferred to an object
